Acquisition and print inquiries
Hym Whiche Is Knowen for a Lyer is an original oil painting on panel measuring 18 × 36 inches (45.7 × 91.4 cm). Drawing inspiration from the timeless moral fable The Boy Who Cried Wolf, the work reimagines the story through a quiet yet foreboding winter landscape.
Set in the early hours of a snowbound morning, a lone wolf advances toward a sleeping village, unseen and unheeded. The stillness of the scene heightens the tension—danger is present not through action, but through silence. The composition speaks to themes of truth ignored, warnings dismissed, and the consequences of complacency when vigilance fades.
Rather than illustrating the fable directly, the painting invites the viewer into its aftermath, where the wolf moves freely through a world that has stopped listening. The restrained palette and elongated format emphasize distance, inevitability, and the quiet authority of nature when human certainty fails.
This work was featured in Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine as part of the Wild Animals collection (January–February 2021).
